I had a lot of great beer in 2013, met a lot of awesome people and had many great beer experiences. Overall, 2013 was a pretty good year.

But, 2013 is over, and now it’s time to look ahead to 2014.

I have a few beery resolutions I want to make. My first resolution is I want to write about beer more. Due to a lot of vacation time and working on my new book, (available in late May), I’ve been slacking on my beer blog. I always file my Beer Nut column, but I want to get back to posting on the blog several times a week.

I want to continue to do reviews, and I hope to delve more into the business of beer in 2014. It’s a subject that has been catching my interest more and more, and I hope that it will interest you as well.  image

I also resolve to try to connect with my readers more. I love suggestions and comments, both positive and negative. If you read one of my columns or blogs and you have an opinion, comment, either on the article or blog, or on my Beer Nut Facebook page. I want more interaction. If you think something I write is stupid, tell me. Maybe it is and I didn’t realize it, or maybe I can convince you why it’s not stupid.

Another resolution is to not be a beer elitist. There’s a difference between being a beer geek and a beer elitist. I won’t ignore or pre-judge a beer just because of who brews it. I drink good beer because I like it. I give good reviews to beers I like and negative beers based 100 percent on taste. I give coverage to breweries that make good beer and I hope my readers will enjoy.

I won’t ignore beers because of who brewed it. I don’t care if the Boston Beer Company or the Lagunitas Brewing Company or anyone else brews a beer, or if it is brewed in Massachusetts, Minnesota or Japan. The size of the brewery or where it is brewed doesn’t make the beer good or bad. It’s the liquid in the lass. The beer will get a fair review, no matter what. If I say I like it, its because I do.

And, my last, and easiest, resolution is to keep on having fun drinking good beer, writing about it and seeing all of you either in various social media places or in person at various beer events.

Happy New Years everyone.
