Cory Lyle Lewellin of Ogilvie, MN died on Monday, October 21, 2013. He was 34 years old.
Cory was born on August 26, 1979 in Grand Rapids, MN to Bernard and Lynn Peterson Lewellin. He grew up in Hill City, Thief River and Crookston, MN. He graduated from Crookston High School in May, 1997. Cory then attended St Cloud Technical College in the fall of 1997 for one year. He lived in St Cloud with his cousins during school, then moved to Brook Park, MN in 1998 and lived with his maternal grandmother, Ione Peterson and work at Halvorson Concrete until 2004, then worked one year at RJ Mechanical and one season at CG Construction. From 2006-2007 he worked at North Country Concrete, from 2007-2009 he was a foreman at Innovative Concrete. He was Owner/Operator of Distinguished Concrete from 2009 -2010. From 2010-2011 he attended Central Lakes College in Staples, MN and received his diploma in Heavy Equipment Operations and Maintenance. He completed 100 hours of crane operations and was currently employed at Landwehr Construction based in St Cloud, MN. Cory was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #49 and previously a member of the Laborers Union Local #49.
Cory’s first love was Barb and his boys. He enjoyed teaching the boys wrestling moves, hunting, fishing, archery, and how to plant and care for trees and vegetables. He loved the outdoors, ice fishing, canoeing, camping, bow hunting, golfing and country music. Cory was very excited about the upcoming birth of his and Barbie’s little girl, Sydney Rose. He spent many hours decorating and furnishing her room and shopping for little girl things.
Cory was methodical when creating things with so much perfection, he was very particular about his work.
He also loved being uncle to his nieces and nephews, Talin, Ephram, Louis, Ellia, Josie, Mikhail, Makenna and Madelyn ; he played a big role in his cousin’s lives as a big brother. He loved little children.
Cory supported the Ogilvie United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ellis and Ione Peterson, Lawrence and Gladys Lewellin.
Cory is survived by his fiancé Barbara Marie Kastenbauer; his sons Dillon, Andrew and Trevor; daughter Sydney Rose; his parents Bernard “Butch” and Lynn Peterson Lewellin and his sister Leah (Paul) Tuchtenhagen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Mora United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Pesola and Chaplin Warren Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 4 until 8 P.M at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
