Dorothy Darlene Gross, 91, of New Ulm died Thursday, October, 17, 2013 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Pastor Anthony Hesse celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Dorothy was born on November 3, 1921 in Sleepy Eye to Elmer, Sr. and Etta (Severns) Krenz. She married Lorand Zuhlsdorf on February 27, 1941 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They lived in the Sleepy Eye and Morgan area where they farmed.
She married Theodore Gross and lived in Iowa and South Dakota. They were involved in raising and showing Arabian horses.
Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide and also did homecare for the elderly. She was active in Senior Center activities. Her cooking expertise was enjoyed by family and friends. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Gerald “Jerry” (Mary) Zuhlsdorf of Tomah, Wis., Janette (Ron) Krzmarzick of New Ulm, Mavis (Joe) Hornick of Lake Park, Iowa, Diane (Tom) Kiergaard of Redwood Falls; 20 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore Gross; children, Judith Johnson, Mark Zuhlsdorf, Marion Rothmeier; sister, Betty; brother, Elmer Krenz, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Eileen Krenz, Ukee Krenz and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Lucille Zuhlsdorf and Lynnae and Helen Luckhardt.
