  • Nels Chris Madsen, 56, of Brooklyn Park formerly of Morgan, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack  Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Evan with burial to follow at the Dannabod Cemetery in Brookville Township. Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan Monday, October 14, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. and will continue Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to services.     Nels, son of Evangeline (Vangie) and the late Linus Madsen of Morgan was born in Redwood Falls September 25, 1957. He grew up in Morgan and attended the Morgan Public School where he participated in wrestling and football and graduated with the class of 1976. Nels then went on to attend Willmar Vocational Technical School to become an Auto Parts Technician.  He then moved to Brooklyn Park where he worked at Versa Die Cast as a die caster. During his youth he enjoyed being in 4-H and showing calves at the county fair.  Nels also loved spending time with his family and friends playing softball and fishing.
    He is survived by his mother Vangie of Morgan; siblings Linus (Joane) Madsen, Jr. of Redwood Falls, Randy (Diane) Madsen of Gibbon, Raymond (Karen) Madsen of Humboldt, Iowa, Susan (Kevin) Anderson of Spicer, Sharon (Al) Seifert of Blair, Wis., Bob (Erin) Madsen of Eagle Bend, Mary Madsen of Willmar, Larry Madsen of Owatonna, Jane (Dennis) Hillberg of Watertown, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
