Marie Angela Wertish was born March 7, 1920 at Henryville Township, rural Olivia to Michael and Rose (Serbus) Goblish. She attended school at Henryville Township District 12.
Marie married Edward S. Wertish September 13, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn and they were blessed with six children. Ed and Marie had farmed near Bechyn and later south of Danube retiring into Olivia in 1988. Ed preceded her in death in 2003, and Marie continued to make her own home before moving into Golden Living Center in Olivia in 2010. Since October 2012 she has resided at RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Marie was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the CCW and when they had lived near Bechyn she was very active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Marie had enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, sewing, making quilts for missions, cooking and baking, especially making kolaches. She really cherished spending time with her family as well as playing cards with her children and grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her five children:  Dorothy Borth of Fairfax, Edward H. (and Theresa) Wertish of Redwood Falls, Rose Anne (and John) Lee of Sacred Heart, Linda (and Gary) Sorensen of Gillette, Wyo., and Mary Enestvedt of Sacred Heart; her daughter-in-law Donna Wertish of Victoria; her 13 grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren (and one more on the way); and her two great-great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward S. Wertish, her son Joseph Wertish, her son-in-law Daniel Borth and her siblings: Sr. Margaret Goblish, Leo Goblirsch, John Goblish, Irene Houdek, Rose Kohout and Henry Goblish.
    Blessed be her memory.
