This past Sunday (Sept. 22) at 4:41 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call reporting a farm accident at a residence along the 75000 block of 250th Street – about eight miles south of Renville in Flora Township.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a person trapped under a corn head, which had fallen off of a combine. Further investigation revealed the victim, 58-year-old Jeffrey H. Muetzel of rural Renville, had been under the corn head making repairs when the head fell from the combine. Muetzel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s department is continuing its investigation into the accident, and is being assisted by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey.
Other agencies responding to the accident included the Danube Police Department, Danube Fire Department, Renville Ambulance Service and Renville Fire and Rescue.
