Mazie Fern Owens, 83, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 in Mesa, Ariz. after a long illness. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at Wyman Funeral Home in Mesa followed by interment at National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mazie Fern Rogers, daughter of Harry and Myrtle Mae (Abel) Rogers, was born June 7, 1930 in Redwood Falls.
She was raised in Delhi and graduated high school in nearby Belview. Mazie married Philip T. Owens August 18, 1949, and they were married for 53 years until Philip’s passing in 2002. Mazie and Phil resided in Redwood Falls until 1988, St. Cloud until 1995 when they retired to Tempe, Ariz.
She loved being with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was active in the Presbyterian Church. She loved to laugh and enjoyed playing cards, traveling and following her favorite sports teams.
Mazie is survived by daughters Catherine (Owens) Weflen of Fullerton, Calif. and Susan (Owens) Cheney of Mesa, sons David Owens of Faribault and Peter Owens of San Tan Valley, Ariz., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by son Thomas Owens.
