“I’ve always like this building and its location, and with Avera buying our old Bridge St. building, the move made perfect sense,” said Duane Heiling, of Ameriprise Financial. “After 20 years in business, I figured I should own my own shingle.
Heiling bought the former gas station on Bridge Street on Feb. 1, and moved in exactly three months later.
“We gutted the whole thing, and rebuilt it with some great local contractors,” Heiling said.
“This building looks good from the street, and it’s nice to have the street sign since 10,000 vehicles go by this street every day.”
The move takes Heiling from an 880 square foot facility to one nearly three times as large.
“We’re required to keep all our records for seven years, so It’s nice to have the room,” Heiling said.
In addition to the new storage, Heiling was able to add separate rooms for breaks and conferences. He even added a 640 square foot office to the side for later rental, or a possible junior partner.
“This building has gone from being an old gas station, to a video rental / tanning salon, to financial services — and I hope it will stay this way until I retire,” Heiling said.
