Delores Serbus, 76, of rural Redwood Falls, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Golden LivingCenter in Olivia. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 10, at St. John's Catholic Church in Morton with Pastor Michael Doyle as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Olivia.
Delores Ann Serbus was born April 4, 1937 on the family farm in Henryville Township, rural Olivia, to Albert and Lucille (Bombeck) Knisley.
She attended country School District #126 through eighth grade and graduated from Olivia High School in 1955.
Delores then worked in Minneapolis for an insurance company for one year.
Delores married Lloyd Serbus October 1, 1956 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia, and they were blessed with two children. They made their home and farmed in Henryville Township for 50 years. Delores and Lloyd had been members of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Bechyn for many years and later were members of St. John's Catholic Church at Morton.
Lloyd preceded Delores in death July 12, 2007 and she continued to live on the farm. Delores has been a resident of the Golden LivingCenter these past seven months.
Delores enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, collecting Avon items and Beanie Babies, compiling family history,and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.
Delores is survived by her son Rick Serbus (and special friend Tammy Bock) of Redwood Falls; her daughter Jodi (and Dennis) Mellies of Hector; her five grandchildren: Jeremy (and Amy) Serbus of Redwood Falls, Jessica (and Neil) Balderston of Olivia, Melissa Mellies (and fiance Tyler Orth) of Somerset, Wis., Josh Mellies of Hector and Kyle Mellies of Hector; one great-grandson Conner Serbus and another great-grandchild "on the way"; her two brothers: Harvey Knisley of Cedar and Dennis (and Gloria) Knisley of Anoka; her sister-in-law Joan Knisley of Andover and many nieces and nephews.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lloyd; her special friend Joe Braun; her twin sister and brother-in-law Dorris and Gaylord Brown; her brother Lester Knisley and her nephew Brian Brown.
