A building that had been part of the Third Street scene in Redwood Falls for several decades was taken down recently.
The building, which has been vacant since the Redwood County Telephone Company main headquarters was moved to Wabasso, had been purchased by Minnwest Bank.
According to Doug Karsky, Minnwest Bank president, the building was taken down to allow for future expansion of the bank building, including the potential to make its driveway bigger and to add more parking.
Karsky added the historic stonework (right) was preserved and could be used in future expansion plans.
The Beran family, which had most recently owned the building and owned Redwood County Telephone until selling it to Arvig Enterprises, Inc. in 2010, was not available for comment.
Once considered state of the art, the building became a sign of changing times, as tele-communications ad-vances required the company to adapt.
