  • A cancer diagnosis is life-altering but not always life-ending. Thanks to advances in prevention, early detection, treatment and follow-up care, more people than ever are surviving cancer. In America alone, there are nearly 14 million survivors. Now that is something to celebrate.
The Redwood Area Hospital invites all community cancer survivors to join in celebrating life at the 20th annual Cancer Survivors picnic. The event is being held Thursday, 27th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Redwood Area Hospital education room.
The picnic wis going to include Subway sandwiches, a beverage and utensils furnished by the hospital.
Guests are invited to bring a dish to share. Entertainment at the event is going to feature the Cornerstone church worship team.
The picnic is a chance for cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, friends and healthcare professionals to join together and show life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful and productive.
“When most people hear the word ‘cancer,’ they automatically think the worst, but thankfully, for many, there is life after cancer,” said Cindy Moldan, registered nurse with the Redwood Area Hospital Cancer Care Center. “For 20 years we have had the pleasure of celebrating that fact that many of the cancer patients we see and form a bond with, are not only surviving, but living after cancer.”
