When the Redwood Communities Foundation was established in 1989, the idea behind the organization was to help non-profit entities with their financial structure. Over the years numerous organizations have been aided by the foundation as they try to aide the communities in which they exist.
One such entity, the Orrin Estebo Foundation, was established in 2006 in an effort to provide funding for people in Redwood Falls who were in need – focusing on education, emergencies and economic development.
The foundation, which has its own board of trustees accepts applications from people and organizations which are in need, and those trustees decide whether or not to provide funding.
To help ensure those applicants who are deemed worthy have access to funds, Orrin Estebo recently enhanced the foundation with an additional gift of $100,000.
Over the years, various allocations have been made, including recent donations to the Friends of the Park and Lakeside Manor. Funds helped with the recent Ramsey Park jamboree and with those who were in need as a result of the apartment fire.
Every applicant is reviewed by the trustees and based on the merits of the application funds are made available. Estebo said intent is to keep the foundation growing in years to come to assist even more who are in need.
