  • The Redwood Falls Women of Today would like to invite the public to the 28th Annual Redwood Falls Community Parade to be held June 14 at 7 p.m.
The parade is set to begin at the Redwood Falls Public Library and follows the same route as in past years.
More than 100 units are anticipated this year, with six special entertainment units contracted.
Entertainment for the 28th annual parade is going to include the local Redwood Valley High School marching band, the local Red-wood Valley High School drumline, the Jim Lawrence Orchestra, Highlanders of the North, the Mankato T-Birds and a returning crowd favorite, Su Fu Du, with a concert at Memorial Field, following the parade.
Again this year there is a free concert at the fairgrounds featuring the Eagle River Band. This is a family friendly event, and is going to follow the Su Fu Du concert at the conclusion of the parade.
The concert is sponsored by the Redwood Falls Women of Today and the Redwood County Fair board.
The Women of Today accept donations of any size to fund this great entertainment from area bands and specialty units.
Although there is no fee required entering a unit or floating in the community parade, community members, business owners, or-ganizations and even neighborhoods are encouraged to donate to the parade and sponsor a unit or band.
Donors are  recognized as parade sponsors and receive a sign for promotion.
The Women of Today are pleased to announce the selection of the 2013 grand marshal Bette Barnes (aka Grandma Bette).
Grandma Bette has been volunteering at the Reede Gray Elem-entary School for several years.
Grandma Bette takes time to mentor, educate and listen to kids. Grandma Bette possesses patience, encouragement, flexibility and caring.
Grandma Bette inspires not only the students but also the teachers and parents of the children.
