Toini married William Haapoja July 5, 1940 at Lundeen’s Corner on Highway 27. They made their home in the Tamarack area where Toini, along with her husband, worked their dairy farm. After her family was grown, she then worked at the McGregor bakery.  Visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. Memorial Service, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet followed by lunch in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beaver. Toini was a very good cook and was known for the rhubarb cream pies she made for her loved ones’ birthdays and her weekend meals when she fed everyone who stopped by. She never knew who was coming, but there was always enough to feed everyone. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, gardening and trout fishing.
Toini is survived by three sons, Bill (Judy) Haapoja of Tamarack, Wayne (Nancy) Haapoja of Redwood Falls and Harold Haapoja of Moose Lake; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Dolly Niemi of Wright.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and all of her siblings.
