Donald “Jody” Gene Bidinger, 80, of Morton passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. May 20 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton. Burial was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Donald, known by most as “Jody,” was born July 10, 1932 in Mountain Park, Okla. to Clarence and Frances (Meyer) Bidinger.
Following graduation from Morton High School in 1950, Jody enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
On January 3, 1953, Jody married Dorothy Roberts at St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton. Together they moved briefly to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland before moving to Reno, Nev. where Jody was stationed at Stead Air Force Base. He was discharged in 1956, and they returned to Morton. He worked for Redwood and Renville County Soil and Water Conservation Services. Jody enjoyed traveling, hunting and playing sports.
He instilled the importance of extra-curricular activities through sports and it is said the children benefitted from his athletic insight.
Jody is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Susanne) Bidinger of Danube, Mark (Daneilla) Bidinger of Redwood Falls, Michelle (Jason) Matthews of Cabrera, D.R., Mary Beth (Kevin) Hartzell of International Falls and David (Mary) Bidinger of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren: Nicholas (Amy) Bidinger, Abby (Joshua) Larcom, and Jessica (Jarrett) Bertch; Sara and Ashley Bidinger, Miranda Sam and Mitchell Farmer; Amanda (Tyler) Beatty, Samantha (Enmanuel) Martinez and Jameson Matthews; Lindsey (Jesse) Laidlaw and Jason Bidinger; Brandon, Eric, and Whitney Hartzell and Melissa and Matthew Bidinger; 10 great-grandchildren and brother RJ (Doddie) Bidinger of Wisconsin and sister Lavina Bertrand.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy in 2002, son Bradley in 2012, two brothers, and one sister.
