For the past several years, the Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls has been reaching out to the community in a unique way – by offering a free meal to anyone and everyone who is willing come.
The idea for the free meals came from a similar program being offered by the Presby-terian Church in Mar-shall, which Scott Prouty, Redwood Falls Presbyterian Church pastor said has been a great success.
The Redwood Falls meal ministry has done pretty well since starting in 2004, too, as Prouty said approximately 11,000 meals have been served to the community.
The next meal is being offered this Sunday at the church starting at 5:30 p.m. and continuing until 6:30 p.m. The meal includes barbecues, beans and dessert, and everyone in the community is invited to come and enjoy the free meal and the time of fellowship with others in the community.
Prouty said people from around the county come to the meals, adding there are typically about 100 people there each month.
The meal is very low-key, said Prouty, adding it is just one way the church can reach out to the community in which it is serving.
