Anthony H Sindelir, 70, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away April 18, 2013 after a courageous two year battle with ALS. Private family services will be held at a later time.
Anthony H Sindelir, 70, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away April 18, 2013 after a courageous two year battle with ALS. He was born in 1943 in Redwood Falls to Anthony M. and Ivadelle Sindelir. He graduated in 1961 from Danube High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1983 after more than 22 years of service, with the rank of Master Chief Boatswains Mate (E-9). He served aboard USS Gurke DD-783, USS George K McKenzie DD-836, USS Blue Ridge LCC-19, and USS Sacramento (AOE -1).
Following his retirement, he obtained an AA degree in automotive repair. He then worked for eight years at Allen Martin Chevrolet in Bremerton, Wash. After a short stay in Minnesota, he & his wife moved to Las Vegas in 1995. He immediately went to work for James West Automotive and continued to work for them until a few years ago.
Some of his greatest joys in life were running, crossword puzzles, drinking coffee and sitting on a Hundred Play poker machine at The Orleans.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, his mother and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Gayle, his son Anthony C. Sindelir (Jennifer) of Guam, his daughter Josie Garcia (Nick), and his grandchildren Sydney and Kyler Garcia all of Bremerton, Wash.
He is also survived by his sisters Linda Trunnell (Jack), Barbara Sindelir (Dennis Coombs) all of Las Vegas, and his brother Dwight Sindelir (Pat) of Litchfield Park, Ariz.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
