  • Helen C. Keaveny, 84, of Shakopee, entered eternal life Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Gertrude’s Health Center in Shakopee.
    Born August 23, 1928, on the family farm in Birch Coulee near Morton, the daughter of Patrick and Hattie (Ecker) Keaveny.
    Helen graduated from Morton High School in 1946 and graduated from St. Catherine University in 1950.
    Having worked her entire life as a consumer consultant with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Denver, Col., she also worked several summers for the U.S. Park Service at Glacier National Park.
    Her hobbies included crosswords, playing scrabble and the enjoyment of the scenery of the Rocky mountains. She enjoyed being on both ends of conversations … a true listener. Her favorite sayings included “If you please” and “thank you so much”.
    Survivors include her sisters, Joan (Bernard) Frank, and Mary Johanneck; brother, Maurice; sister-in-law, Margaret Keaveny; many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by sister, Harriet (George) Schroeder; borthers, William and Art (Donna) Keaveny; brother-in-law, Francis Johanneck.
    Visition is Saturday, April 27, from 9-11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., both held at St. John’s Catholic Church, Morton. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Morton. Helen would have preferred donations to St. Catherine University, St. Paul.
