To everyone shoveling or plowing the wet, heavy snowfall that hit the area this week, this may come as adding insult to injury — the town is still officially in drought conditions.
According to Redwood area weather guru Jon Markuson, Redwood Falls got 14.5 inches of snow between Wednesday and Friday.
Most of it landed on Thursday morning, shutting down the schools and inconveniencing everyone needing to get to work or travel out of town.
However, the 14.5 inches of snow this week melts down to only 2.46 inches of water.
According to Markuson, the area would need at least nine inches of water to get out of drought conditions.
He added the average temperature for this week in April is 57 degrees.
