The family requests that memorials be directed to Caring and Sharing Hands or the Morton Area Community Foundation.
Mary Catherine Gallery, the daughter of Robert and Zelda (Gaasch) Gallery, was born September 3, 1950 in Redwood Falls. She grew up in Morton and received her elementary and secondary education there. After graduating from Morton with the now infamous “Class of ’68,” Mary attended Southwest State University in Marshall.  In 1970, Mary relocated to Minneapolis and began a long and successful career in the insurance industry.
Over the course of 35 years, Mary spent time in Fargo, N.D., Cleveland, Ohio, Chicago, Ill. and Richmond, Va., eventually returning to Minneapolis as the Branch Underwriting director for CNA Insurance.
Mary retired from CNA in 2005.  Having previously purchased “the family home,” Mary returned to Morton and, for a brief time, settled into retirement life.
Mary began an entirely new career in 2006 as a part-time office employee for Kibble Equipment in Bird Island.
Mary was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was elected to the Morton City Council in 2008.
Mary’s life will not be defined by her career. It will be defined by the person she was: kind, compassionate, generous to a fault, caregiver, and – above all else – an amazing daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary is survived by her siblings Ann (Bill) Shaw of Maple Grove; Robert Gallery of Sarasota, Fla.; Patricia Gosen of Atlanta, Ga.; Cathryn (Jimmy) Connell of Sarasota, Fla.; Thomas (Tanya) Gallery of Pueblo West, Colo. and James Gallery of Sarasota, Fla.; sister-in-law Janna Gallery of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews Jake Gallery of Minneapolis and Shae, Kate and Joe Gallery of Pueblo West, Colo. and a host of dear friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Zelda, niece Nicole and brother-in-law Chuck Gosen.
    Blessed be her memory.
