  • Gladys Giese, 85 of Lamberton, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Funeral services were Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lamberton with burial in the Jeffers City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent via e-mail at: www.sturmfh.com.     Gladys June Giese was born June 11, 1927 in Mountain Lake to Edward and Alice (Ridenauer) Johnson. She was baptized at the Jeffers United Methodist Church and graduated from Jeffers High School. Gladys was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Giese June 22, 1946 in Windom. Together they farmed in the Jeffers, Storden, Lamberton, and Pennock areas and raised their 4 children. Gladys worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Willmar Plumbing & Heating, Lamberton Plumbing & Heating, and helped Jerry in his shoe repair business. She retired in 1990 and moved back to Lamberton. In 1995, Gladys was injured in an auto accident from which she never fully recovered. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, and visiting with friends and relatives.
    She is survived by her children: Nancy (David) Rue of Lamberton, Gene Giese of Cokato, Barbara Petersen of Magnet, NE, and Robert (Pam) Giese of Willmar; 16 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters- Evelyn (Kermit) Soupir of Windom, and Mildred (Elton) Wolf of Wadena. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry on April 26, 1988; brothers- Gerald and Victor Johnson; son-in-law Delbert Petersen; two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Vince Soupir.
