In a change to the normal routine, the Redwood Area Bike Rodeo is going to be held the same night as the Redwood Area Hospital’s heath fair (March 26) from 5 -7 p.m. in the Redwood Area Community Center civic arena. This free event includes bike and helmet safety information, tune-ups and obstacle courses.
Helmets are required to participate in the bike rodeo. This year smaller sized bike helmets are going to be given away while supplies last. Older youth riders are asked to bring their bike helmets from previous years.
The rodeo is going to include helmet fittings and a helmet decorating station.
“Even though there’s still snow on the ground, we encourage parents to get out their kids’ bikes and get ready for spring,” said Wendy Dahl, Redwood Area Hospital education manager. “One of the reasons we decided to hold the bike rodeo earlier this year is so that kids can be comfortable riding safely as soon as they start biking this spring.”
Each child who participates in the rodeo is eligible to win one prize, including girls and boys 16-inch, 20-inch and 24-inch bikes, and bike accessories.
Participants must be present at the time of the drawing to win. For more information about the bike rodeo, call Dahl at the Redwood Area Hospital at (507) 637-4527 or visit www.redwoodareahospital.org.
