The Redwood Area Chamber and Tourism office has announced it is going to host its annual meeting and chef’s dinner Feb. 8 in the Grand Eagle Ballroom of Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel starting with cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
According to Anne Johnson, Chamber executive director, much of what is going to take place at this year’s event is similar to what has been part of those held in the past.
Yet, added Johnson, there are some things which are new for 2013.
“I’m excited about what is going to happen, and the people I have talked to seem to be excited, too,” said Johnson. “This should be a great night.”
Johnson said a limited number of tickets remain for the event, and those who are interested should contact the Chamber as soon as is possible.
The tickets are $40 per person, which in-cludes the dinner, as well as special entertainment. The even-ing’s entertainment is comedian Jason Schommer, and John-son said he has op-ened a number of times for Minnesota comedy icon Louie Anderson.
In addition to the entertainment, the chef’s dinner is a highlight of the night, with five courses being offered, starting with a shrimp appetizer and a field greens salad. The meal also includes champagne grapefruit sorbet, a grilled ribeye with a baked potato and asparagus parmigiano and caramel flan cheesecake.
The night also includes a silent auction, with a variety of items up for bids from tickets to a Minnesota Wild game to several themed baskets.
Johnson said this year is also going to include a live auction with a Ramsey Falls print up for grabs.
Johnson said the funds raised are going to be used for local Chamber projects and programs.
“We have very generous donors,” John-son said, adding items are still being accepted for the silent auction.
The annual visionary awards, including the Shining Star award, the Rising Star award and the Hidden Gem award are all being presented as part of the event.
