The 2012 Redwood County Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign this past Christmas Season was again a hugh success.
A total of $21,992.81 was received through the kettles and other direct donations.
Special thanks to Walmart and Tersteegs for allowing SA to receive donations from their customers at their stores.
Also thanks to the Second Time Around store in Redwood and 13 grocery and convenience stores around the County that allowed us to have small Counter Kettles on their checkout counters and to the Redwood Falls City council for ringing at Christmas By Candle Light.
The top of the list of those to thanks are those many individuals that donated this money, often in large amounts and often several times during the 32 day Campaign.
There were many organizations and individuals who deserving a special word of thanks for giving their time and enduring the cold temperatures as they served as Bell Ringers.
Many individuals served for several 2-hour sessions over the 32 days of ringing. All participation was done by volunteers.
In metropolitan areas the Bell Ringers are usually hired.  Bell Ringers were provided from most of the churches in Redwood Falls and one in Belleview, from several commercial companies in the county and from civic and community organizations. Over 350 hours were donated.
The money received will be available to help needy residents and visitors here in Redwood County.
A person in need is to contact one of the agencies listed below.  Aid will come in the form of a voucher for a specific need and dollar amount with a specific merchant, who will, in turn,  be reimbursed by the Northern Division Salvation Army when the voucher is processed.
All funds are managed by that organization. Our local Committee has a budget, based on the donations received, but does not dispense the money.
Any unused funds in the budget at the end of our fiscal year remain with the Northern Division where they are used to help with the SA needs throughout Minnesota and North Dakota.
Persons needing to receive a specific voucher for a specifically allowed need must contact one of the following organizations in Redwood County to receive the desired voucher: Amy Joubert at the Western Communication Action office at 2nd & Washington in Redwood Falls or either pastor at Cornerstone Christian Church in Redwood Falls.
In addition, this year for the first time, SA was able to receive about 300 toys and other items from Walmart customers in the Fill The Truck Campaign on Dec. 8.
All donated items went to the Share the Spirit Program and were distributed to approximately 170 needy families in Redwood County during the following week.
Special thanks to those individuals and families that donated, making this an exceptional Christmas for those families.
