James (Jim, Jess) Oscar Hillger of Outing, Minn., formerly of Bloomington, died of natural causes at the age of 75.
He was born in Redwood Falls and a member of high school class 1957.
He served in the Army where he gained his skills as an automotive mechanic which led him to Fowler Electric Co. in 1960. He successfully partnered Fowler with Dick Betzold and then his son Eric for over 45 years. He was fixture of the business right up to the end. He was known for his sense of humor, bold straight talk and enjoyment of all outdoors. Jim’s passions included hunting, fishing, ATVing and especially snowmobiling with family and friends.
Survivors include children Kathryn, Eric and Christine, brother Bill and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Ellen Hillger.
A celebratory gathering of Jim was held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at David Fong’s, in Bloomington 55420. A new page has been started on Facebook for Jim, to share remembrances. On Friday, January 11, 2013 at 8:30 p.m. family and friends will gather for a toast in his honor at Granny’s Bar & Grill in Emily.
A memorial ATV Trail Ride will depart 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 from Granny’s. All are welcome.
