    Do you want to quit?
According to Mike Sheldon of ClearWay Minnesota, most smokers want to quit.
“The problem is they don’t know the best way to quit,” he said.
Hundreds of smokers resolve to quit smoking when the new year begins, but only a small percentage of them achieve the success they desired.
“People throw away their packs of cigarettes and then try to quit cold turkey,” said Sheldon, adding they have no specific plan in place to quit.
Without a plan and the support of others who can help, one is left without much hope of actually reaching the goal to quit.
That, said Sheldon, is where ClearWay Minnesota comes into the picture clearing away the smoke and helping those hoping to quit to find resolution.
A new program is being offered through ClearWay Minnesota called “Together We Quit,” and Sheldon said it offers those who desire to quit a chance to do that with the right types of resources and support they need.
Registrations are currently being accepted at the Quitplan Web site for its “Together We Quit” program.
The program is free, but the offer is only good through Jan. 13.
The registration is quick and easy at www.quitplan.com, and once one is signed up the free tools are at their disposal.
Those tools include lots of information about smoking, including suggestions about the best way to quit, and Sheldon said there are experts available every Friday to help coach people who are struggling and to encourage them in their quest to quit.
ClearWay Minnesota was established by the State of Minnesota in 1998 in an effort to help reduce tobacco use among the people of Minnesota. It receives funding through the tobacco settlement.
“We want to help people think through their plan to quit, so they can be successful,” said Sheldon.
