  • The goal for the three-day food drive known as Freezin’ for Food was to collect 20,012 pounds for area food shelf organizations.
Once again donations of those non-perishable items and cash exceeded the goal.
According to Tina Klinkner, who helps coordinate the annual event, this year a total of 21,390 pounds of food and cash equivalent was donated by the members of the community.
Those donations have been delivered to the food shelf organizations, and people across the region are benefitting from them.
Klinkner expressed her appreciation to all who helped make a difference this year, whether they donated items, worked as a volunteer or served as a drop-off site.
“We just want to thank everyone in the community who helped make this a great event,” she said.
The 2013 Freezin’ for Food drive marks the 10th anniversary of the local event, and Klinkner said those who help to coordinate the annual drive are looking for some fun and creative activities to help celebrate the event and to ensure the collection continues to be the success it has been.
