  • Search for new hospital CEO under way

  • Representatives from the national search firm Witt/Kieffer were on site at Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls in late-October, meeting a variety of individuals in an effort to further define the hospital’s CEO search process.
    The city council selected Witt/Kieffer to assist the City of Redwood Falls in the search process. The firm specializes in the health care, higher education and not-for-profit world.
    Witt/Kieffer representatives met with the hospital’s executive team, employees, department heads, medical staff leaders, the hospital commission, the city council and the CEO search committee to learn about Redwood Area Hospital’s culture, opportunities and challenges, as well as the ideal profile for the hospital’s next CEO.
    “The past success of the hospital, financial stability and breadth of services and expertise provided to the community make the hospital well-situated to bring in top-notch candidates to fill the position,” said Jim King, senior vice president at Witt/Kieffer.
    King is based in Minneapolis and leads the team conducting a national search for the hospital’s next leader.
    During the coming weeks Witt/Kieffer is going to be identifying and personally meeting with potential candidates, using a preliminary interviewing proc-ess to select a smaller group of the most highly qualified candidates to interview for the position. The CEO search committee is responsible for interviewing and evaluating qualified candidates presented by Witt /Kieffer.  
    The search committee is going to ultimately make a hiring recommendation to the city council.
    “The expertise Witt /Kieffer has brought to this process is invaluable,” said Keith Muetzel, Redwood Falls city administrator. “With a clear process mapped out to select a new leader, hospital employees and city council members are energized and ready for this next step.
    “We look forward to having a new CEO on board sometime in the spring of 2013.”
    The search process typically requires four to six months from start to finish.
