When the City of Morton election results were tallied, the initial results determined one vote separated the top three candidates for the two open city council seats.
With the results that close, a recall was conducted to determine the final result.
That recount was held at 8:30 a.m. this past Wednes-day at the Renville County Courthouse in Olivia.
After the recount it was verified that Sarah Luckhardt had received 30 votes, with Bernadine Rathman and Brandon Koerner each receiving 29 votes.
In order to declare a winner, a coin toss, conducted by Larry Jacobs, Renville County auditor-treasurer, was held.
Rathman called heads, but it was tails, which means as of Jan. 1 Koerner and Luckhardt are going to be the new city council members in Morton.
