  • The library is always a great place to hang out at anyway, and the Friends of the Redwood Falls Public Library invite you to join in two fun events coming up in the next few weeks.
    • Decorate a Wreath
What is your favorite book? And how would you use it’s images and ideas to decorate a Christmas wreath?
The Friends have twenty-five undecorated Christmas wreaths waiting for groups, organizations, or individuals to decorate them using a book title and theme.
Not just individuals are welcome to put their creativity to work this way. Decorating a wreath would also be a fun activity for book clubs, woman’s clubs, church circles, or whatever else.
The Friends invite you to pick up a wreath, give it a go, and return it to the library by Wed., October 31.
The finished wreaths will be displayed in the library meeting room beginning Nov. 1 until the town’s annual Christmas by Candlelight celebration on Nov. 16.
Then, as a final service to the community, the wreaths will be sold  through a silent auction as a fundraiser for future library projects.
    • Collection Night
Last year the library sponsored a special night when folks from the community could show off their collections.
Almost two dozen people set up displays of everything from M&M salt shakers, to Christmas tree ornaments, to dolls, to pottery, among others.
The night was such a success the Friends decided to enlarge it this year to include hobbies of all sorts.
This year the Friends invite anyone who enjoys an activity, interest, enthusiasm or amateur pastime done for pleasure or relaxation to share it with the public.
When the Friends say “hobby”, they mean anything from amateur radio, bonsai, jewelry making, knitting, scrapbooking, insects, flower pressing, photography, beadwork, dolls, cake decorating, puzzles, origami, papermaking, thrift storing to yoyos, just to name a few.
If you have a hobby and are willing to set up at the library on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 6–8 p.m., please get in touch with us.
This will be a fun evening for hobbyists and anyone who enjoys looking at the hobbies and chatting with the enthusiasts.
If you or your group is interested in picking up a wreath or sharing a hobby, call Joyce Johnson at 627-1895 or stop by the Library and ask at the desk.
