  • Ralph Scharfencamp, 86, of Franklin died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin with Pastor Jeff Horejsi celebrating the Mass.  Burial will follow in the Birch-Coulee Cemetery.
    Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements. To sign the guest book, or to leave an online condolence for his family go to www.mvfh.org.
    Ralph was born November 25, 1925 to Herman and Cecelia (Kerkhoff) Scharfencamp at their farm home in Morgan.
    He attended Country School District 9 and later graduated from eighth grade at St. Michael’s School in Morgan.
    Ralph married Angie Malecek in 1954. They farmed in Renville County (Bandon Township) for 25 years before moving to Franklin in 1976. Ralph continued his trucking business until retirement. Angie died of cancer in 1977. Ralph married Marion Bemmels of Fairfax in 1980, and they later divorced.
    Ralph enjoyed his annual deer hunting trip, playing cards, and going to auctions. He loved to be surrounded by people and was especially close to his brothers and sisters and treated his nieces and nephews like his own. A highlight of Ralph’s life was a trip to Israel and the Holy Land with Pastor Jack Brunner. He was a long time faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin.
    Ralph is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bernard Simonsen of Morgan, Opal and Jerry Malecek of Morgan, Fern and Dean Paschke of Austin; sisters-in-law, Verna Scharfencamp of Franklin, Ann Scharfencamp of New Ulm and many nieces and nephews.
