  • Floyd “Hap” Ahrens, 78, of Gibbon, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. Graveside service will be Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Redwood City Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Arrangements are by the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.   • Floyd “Hap” Ahrens, 78, of Gibbon, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. Graveside service will be Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Redwood City Cemetery in Redwood Falls.
    Floyd “Hap” Willis Ahrens was born April 7, 1934, in Redwood Falls. He was the son of William (Bill) and Lena (Schmidt) Ahrens. Floyd was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education at country school.
    Hap lived in Redwood Falls most of his life. He owned and operated the butcher shop in Franklin for 14 years, and then he owned and operated an insulation business for 24 years.
    On April 23, 1992, Hap was united in marriage to Rebecca Marie Beckenbach at the courthouse in New Ulm. After their marriage, the couple lived in Redwood Falls and Gibbon. Hap and Rebecca shared 20 years of marriage.
    Hap loved NASCAR and stock car racing, fishing and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his family. Hap lived through nine heart attacks and kidney cancer. He was a fighter. Floyd passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax at the age of 78 years.

    Hap is survived by his: wife, Rebecca Ahrens of Gibbon; children, Randy Ahrens and his wife, Jackie of Panama City, Fla., Virginia Albertson and her husband, Heath of Wilmont, Laurence Snook and his friend, Jessica Sherwood of Lafayette, Jason Snook and his friend, Jackie Aponte of Renville and Peggy Ahrens and her friend, Mark Gould of Pipestone; 19 grandchildren; sister, Loretta Emerson of Kasota; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Hap was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Ahrens; siblings, Maynard Ahrens, Leonard Ahrens, Willard Ahrens, Howard Ahrens, Earnie Ahrens, LaVerne (Babe) Ahrens, William (Woody) Ahrens and Lloyd (Floyd’s twin); grandchild, Kristen Snyder; brother-in-law, Lyle Emerson and nephews, Maynard Steven Ahrens, David Ahrens, Gerald Ahrens and Lonnie Ahrens.
