  •   Donald Hemingsen, age 83, of Mankato, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at his home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato with Pastor Scott E. Olson officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Donald Christ Hemingsen was born January 15, 1929 on a farm in Renville County to Leslie and Helen (Harting) Hemingsen.   He graduated from Renville High School and later entered the US Army, where he served in Germany during the Korean War.   Donald married Marian Wigen February 5, 1956 in Boyd.  They later moved to Dawson, where he worked at Dawson Mills for 30 years before retiring and moving to Mankato.   He was formerly active in civil defense in Boyd, Boy Scouts in Dawson, Habitat for Humanity (ReStore) and was a volunteer at the Echo Food Shelf in Mankato.   Donald enjoyed wood working, fishing, deer hunting and gardening.   He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a life member of the Morson-Ario VFW.  He most loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Donald is survived by wife, Marian of Mankato; two sons, Steven (Mona) of Mankato, Michael (Candee) of Fillmore, Mo.; daughter, Debra (Jim) Knutson of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Donna (Tim) Hemingsen-Kleppe of Cokato ; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Lorraine (Howard) Gaffney of Redwood Falls, Chris (Mary Anne) Hemingsen of Delaware, Leo (Renee) Hemingsen of Renville and Leone Mulder of Renville; sister-in-law, Mildred Hemingsen of Renville. Donald was preceded in death by son, Brian in 1991; infant grandson; brother, Stan and two brothers-in-law.
