Irene Luescher (Neumann) was born in 1922 in Waterbury Township, Redwood?County. Her parents were Otto and Hulda (Wickmann) Neumann.
She was baptized July 30, 1922 by Pastor Christian Langholz at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Waterbury, and confirmed in her Christian faith June 28, 1936 by Pastor Christian Mack at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Willow Lake Township in Redwood County, Minnesota. Irene attended a country school near Wabasso.
On April 14, 1944 Irene was married to Wilbur Luescher by Pastor Paul Kiefer at the New Avon Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church of Wabasso, Minnesota.
They farmed near Wabasso until 1968, when they moved to Cokato to work in a home for disabled persons. While in Cokato they entered a whole sale retail business.
After Wilbur’s death in a car accident in 1987 Irene moved to Buffalo and in 1990 moved to Monticello, and in 2006 to Lakeview, Ark.
Irene was an active member in the auxiliary of the Gideon’s International (which distributes Gods Word in more than 187 countries).
She furthered her grade school education by attending the Summer School of Christian Education graduating in 1962. She was a Sunday school superintendent, vacation church school leader also youth group counselor at Lake Koronis for many years. Irene was active in jail ministry to the women inmates at the Wright County jail, and she volunteered at the Buffalo food shelf.
Irene passed away in Mountain Home, Ark. June 27, 2012; she had reached the age of 89 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Survivors include a daughter Joyce and son-in-law Carl of Lakeview, Ark. Two grandsons; Brian Miller of Abbotsford, Wis. and David (Nancy)?Miller of Isle. Great grandchildren, Nicholas and Megan, Emily and Daniel Miller.
She is also survived by a brother Marvin Neumann of Redwood Falls and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur and two sisters.
