Joanne Manderscheid, age 76, of Olivia died Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, under the care of Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial is July 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Pastor Paul van de Crommert as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation continues July 19 from 9:15-10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Renville County Hospice.
Joanne Mary Manderscheid was born May 17, 1936 in Lamberton to Joseph and Cecelia (Reinert) Gumpinger. She grew up and attended Lamberton schools. Joanne married Bud Manderscheid October 9, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. They made their home in Olivia and were blessed with five children. Joanne worked at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia and then attended Willmar Vocational School and graduated in 1976. She then continued working for Continental Telephone Co. and UBC in Olivia.
Joanne enjoyed baking, crafts, painting, fishing, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and being up north at Sherwood Forest. Joanne was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the CCW and Sweet Adeline singing choir.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Vincent “Bud” Manderscheid of Olivia and her five children: Paul (and Brenda) Manderscheid of Wyoming, Mark (and Brenda) Manderscheid of Isanti, Deb (and Jim) Horejsi of Echo, John (and Rhonda) Manderscheid of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Steve (and Nicole) Manderscheid of Edina; her 10 grandchildren: Nicole, Jeremy (and Stephanie), Dustin, Kallie Jo, Randy (and Jessica), Cory (and special friend Bailey), Tucker, Jack, Alec and Jena; her two great-grandchildren: Greta and Peyton and her two sisters: Dolores (and Sam) Manderscheid of Bird Island and Mary (and Richard) Mendenhall of Independence, Ore. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Gumpinger.
