Firing a two-over par 74, Redwood Valley sophomore Adam Hengel finished in second place Thursday at the Section 3AA?Meet held at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar.
With his strong play, the Cardinal ace is going to advance to the Class AA state meet beginning June 12 at The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.
As expected, the Marshall boys claimed the team title by 12 strokes over second place New London/Spicer.
The Tigers finished with a 307 team total as four players all scored in the 70s led by the duo of Matt Bennett and Marcus Holm-berg with 76s.
The Cardinals finished third with a 331, but they couldn’t cash in on Hengel’s 74 as the rest of the team struggled.
Alec Koster finished with an 85, while Derek?Bebeau and Mitch?Fischer each carded 86s.
Joe Smith added a 90, and Thane Widmer a 98.

Redwood Valley junior Abby Schmidt carded a 101, and senior Julie Anderson added a 105 to wrap up their seasons Thursday at the Section 3AA Meet.
