Ted Sindelir, 90, of Olivia died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services are set for May 7 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia with Pastor Russ Jacobsen officiating. Burial is in the Olivia Cemetery.
Visitation continues at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Renville County Hospice.
Theodore Gordon Sindelir was born November 6, 1921 in Olivia to Anton and Josephine (Budik) Sindelir. He attended school at Olivia and then attended the University of Minnesota at Morris.
In addition to his agricultural field of study Ted enjoyed boxing while at school. His educational pursuits ended when he was called home to assist on the family farm during WWll.
On March 17, 1954 Ted married June Decknadel of Hector at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They settled in Henryville Township where Ted continued to farm well into his 80s. Besides farming his own land, which he truly loved, Ted did custom corn shelling and baling with his brother Tony.
He also worked for Green Giant as a field man during pea harvest and corn pack, as a Township assessor and did seasonal work at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop at Renville.
Ted served on the board of directors for the Danube Farmers Co-op Elevator for many years. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, hosting many family pheasant hunts and gatherings on his farm and had a passion for playing cards throughout his life.
Ted is survived by his four children: Gary (and Gail) Sindelir of Fletcher, Ohio, Tom Sindelir (and special friend Roberta Sharpe) of Oklee, Joy Sindelir (and Joel Lindgren) of St. Peter and Jeff (and Daniela) Sindelir of Danube; his three grandchildren: Cody (and Jenny) Olson, Megan (and Wesley) Boothe and Lindsey Sindelir; two step-grandchildren: Paul and Steven Maxwell; four great-grandchildren: Connor Sindelir, Gavin and Jacob Olson and Claira June Boothe; his sister Georgianne Fleming of Florida and his brother Robert Sindelir (and Jill Cannady) of Florida.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his wife June in 1994; his granddaughter Katherine June Sindelir; his great-granddaughter Alexandra Sindelir; his brothers: Anthony Sindelir and Raymond Sindelir and his sisters: Emily Sindelir, Clara Dykema and Margaret Mages.
