It was another strong outing for the Redwood Valley boys and girls track teams as they each claimed team title’s Tuesday afternoon at the Rebel Relay’s in Slayton.
The Cardinal boys finished with 123 team points to edge Montevideo (116.5) and MCC (102) in the 11-team event.
The Cardinal girls had 89 points to hold off MCC (77) and Adrian (69).
“It was a nice day for our teams against some good competition,”?Coach Andy Regnier said, “We had 28 kids with season bests which is a credit to everybody for working hard.”
Senior Chris Fischer had a big day, winning the 200 meter dash (23.76), the 110 high hurdles (16.16) and finishing second in the 300 hurdles (43.47).
RJ?Juell competed in just two events but won both, claiming the high jump (6’3”) and setting a meet record in the pole vault (12’10”).
Ryan Phillips won both the 800 (2:03.80) and 1,600 (4:44.80) races in impressive fashion and Dillon?Thooft claimed the 3,200 (10:34.60).
The Cardinal 4x800 relay team of Alex Amunrud, Nick VonMosch, Thooft and Aiden Dirlam also earned first place.
Beckycia Bowers led the Cardinal girls with a pair of first place finishes in the long jump (16’1/2”) and triple jump (34’11”).
Kayla Huhnerkoch had an easy win in the 1,600 (5:15) and Lauren Hanson was second in the high jump (4’8”).
Kelsey Gaffney was second in both the shot put (36’6”) and discus (102’8”) and Katie Ellingworth was second in the 400 (1:03.36) and fourth in the long jump (15’1”).
Mary Fixsen was fourth in the 800 (2:41.50).
