  • A pair of forfeits at 220 and Heavyweight helped Redwood Valley edge Fulda/MCC 37-30 Tuesday night at a triangular held in the RVHS?gymnasium.


    The Cardinals fell 74-3 to a good Minneota team as Dillon Thooft was the lone Cardinal wrestler to pick up a win - a 7-6 decision at 113 pounds.

    In the victory over Fulda/MCC, the Cardinals picked up falls from Kody Thul at 132 pounds and Alex Reynolds at 145 and a major decision win from Thooft.

    Wes Peyerl earned a key decision at 126 and Josiah?Passe (138), Dustin Gransee (220) and Logan Zaske (Hwt) all racked up forfeits as the Cards held on for a rare dual meet win.

    On Friday the Cardinals took part in the BOLD Quadrangular, losing 60-13 to BOLD, 63-6 to Zumbrota-Mazeppa and 55-18 to New Ulm.

    Thooft continued to wrestle well for Head Coach Andy Ourada, going 3-0 overall.

    Brett Olsen went 2-1 at 106 pounds.

    Brady Goblirsch, Chase Rahe and Zaske all had one victory.

    “I?thought the kids gave it their all,”?Ourada said, “We thought going in that we had a shot against New Ulm but they won the flip and picked up some swing matches.”

    Saturday morning the Cardinal JV team took part in the Springfield Tournament.

    Gransee went 4-0 to earn a first place finish and Rahe was 4-1 in finishing second.

    Shawn Edwards went 1-2 to finish third and Passe was fourth after a 2-3 day.

    The Cardinals have a tough dual tonight at Jackson Co. Central and visit New London/Spicer on Friday.
