The magical start continues for the Redwood Valley boys basketball team as they dominated Luverne and MVL to improve to 10-0 on the season.
The Cardinals - ranked second in Class AAA in the latest AP?poll - went on the road Friday night to face a quality Luverne team and pulled away in the second half for an impressive 70-45 victory.
Alec Koster buried three first-half three’s and the Cardinals would take a 34-23 lead into the break.
Mike Busack would score 14 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as the Cardinals outscored Luverne 36-22 to improve to 5-0 in conference play heading into Friday night’s showdown with Worthington.
Koster would finish with 19 points (14 in the first half), five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Busack added nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals to go along with his 24 points (10-of-15 shooting).
Beau Stough chipped in with 14 points and eight boards.
Elias O’Keefe, Steve Runkel (four assists) and Jordan Ford all buried three’s.
The Cardinals shot 44 percent from the floor and hit 4-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Monday night the Cardinals hosted MVL in a non-conference tilt and rolled to a 78-39 win over the outmanned Chargers.
Redwood Valley led just 16-12 with 7:52 remaining in the first half but exploded for 33 points in the final eight minutes to lead 49-21 at the half.
Busack was outstanding once again as he knocked down eight straight shots (including three trey’s) to end the half and would score 29 in the first 18 minutes.
Despite a cold start the Cardinals would still shoot 50 percent from the floor in the first half (19-of-38) and commited just two turnovers.
The second half was all Cardinals as well as they outscored the Chargers 29-18 on the way to doubling up MVL.
Busack would finish with 32 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots.
Koster added 18 points, four steals and three rebounds and Adam Hengel came off the bench to score 10 points (5-of-7 shooting) and added four steals.
RJ?Juell pitched in with seven points and six rebounds and Drew Lueck had a season-high seven points on 3-of-4 shooting.
Stough added two points and eight rebounds.
The Cardinals host Worthington Friday night in a big SWC match-up.
A year ago the two teams split the regular season series with the Cards winning 78-51 at home and losing 70-61 on the road.
