It was an impressive offensive display by the state-ranked Marshall?Tigers as they rolled to a 49-6 victory over host Redwood Valley Friday night in a SWC battle at Inglis Field.
The Tigers?(3-0) got another outstanding peformance from standout running back Beau Bofferding as he he carried the ball 13 times for 155 yards and five touchdowns.
Through three games, Bofferding has scored 11 touchdowns as the Tigers have put up 40 or more points in all three games this season.
The Cardinal defense would force a three-and-out to start the game, but the Tigers would get on the board in their second possesion with a 3-yard run by Bofferding for a 7-0 lead.
Mason Schnaible would add to the Tiger lead just over 2 1/2 minutes later with an 84-yard punt return for a touchdown down the left sideline that put the visitor’s up 14-0.
Early in the second quarter, Bofferding would break free on a 1st-and-20 for an 84-yard touchdown run and the rout was on.
Down 21-0, the Cardinals (1-2) showed some heart by putting together a six play, 80-yard drive that culminated in a pretty fade pass from Logan Swann to Mike Busack from 7-yards out that would cut the lead to 21-6.
Junior RJ?Juell had a pair of receptions for 68 yards in the drive, including a 56-yarder that took the ball down to the Marshall 5-yard line.
The second half was all Marshall as they tacked on two more Bofferding touchdowns in the third quarter and an 11-yard run by Brock Baumgarten in the fourth to cap off the scoring.
Marshall finished with 300 yards rushing on 36 carries and quarterback Alex Fenske was 8-of-16 passing for 117 yards.
Redwood Valley was held to just 12 yards rushing but got another solid effort from Swann in the passing game as he completed 13-of-28 through the air for 191 yards and a touchdown.
Busack was a welcome return to the line-up as he hauled in six catches for 76 yards and a score and added one carry for six yards.
Swann rushed the ball 14 times for 52 yards, including a 34-yard scamper in the first half but also lost 31-yards while under pressure.
Juell added three catches for 76 yards, Chris Fischer had two catches for 25 yards, Beau Stough had one catch for eight yards and Alec Koster added one catch for six yards.

Andrew Haak finished with five tackles (two solo) and a tackle-for-loss and Colin?Bailey had five tackles and a tackle-for-loss.
