A career night from sophomore Kelsey Gaffney helped lead the Redwood Valley girls basketball team to a 42-34 victory over visiting BOLD Thursday night in a non-conference match-up.
Gaffney finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and a blocked shot as the Cardinals (2-13) picked up their second win of the season against a potential section foe in the Warriors (5-11).
After a slow start to the game, the Cardinals picked up their offense midway through the first half and would take a 22-16 lead into the break.
In the second half the Cardinals maintained the lead and won despite hitting just 9-of-21 free throw attempts.
As a team the Cardinals shot just over 30 percent from the floor (15-of-49) but outrebounded the Warriors, had 10 steals and commited just 10 turnovers.
Liz Smith finished with eight points, four rebounds and two steals.
Jessica Fischer added six points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals and Gabi Swoboda went 2-of-4 from long range and finished with six points and three rebounds.
Steph Jensen had five points and Sam Felt added three points, four rebounds and four steals.
