Dennis Auslam will show his horsemanship skills during World’s Toughest Rodeo Jan. 29-30.

For Dennis Auslam, local horse trainer and owner of Redwood Stables the venues in which people are seeing his skills are getting bigger all of the time.

So are the horses he is using.

Auslam is going to be exhibiting his skills this weekend at the World’s Toughest Rodeo. The event is being held Jan. 29-30 at the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Auslam’s horse of choice is a Friesian named Douwke G.

“He’s a seven-year-old Friesian from the Netherlands,” said Auslam, this past Wednesday. “I’ve had him for about 10 days.”

According to Auslam, he is not competing in the rodeo contests.

Rather, he is putting on an exhibition of various skills in advance of the start of the rodeo each day.

“I?have 15 minutes at the start of each day. It’s my chance to wow the crowd,”?said. “I?guess you could call it my 15 minutes of fame.”
