Gabi Swoboda is headed back to the State Cross Country Meet.
The talented junior earned a fifth place finish Thursday afternoon at the Section 3A Meet in Adrian to earn a spot in the Class A State Meet Saturday, Nov. 7 at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
Swoboda finished in 15:56 to place behind Leah Jessen of Canby/Minneota-Lincoln HI and the Adrian trio of Jordin Kopplow, Nicole Slater and Megan Sauer who finished 1-2-3 respectively to lead the Adrian girls to the team title.
The Dragons finished with 56 team points to edge MLBO (63) while the Cardinals settled for an eighth-place finish at 183.
Kara Thul (17:15) and Mary Fixsen (17:16) finished 39th and 40th respectively.
Stacy Liebl (17:32) was 53rd, Evan Buysse (17:45) 54th, Katelyn Prouty (18:14) finished 69th and Brooke Bitker (18:17) was 75th.

The Redwood Valley boys fell shy of its fifth consecutive trip to State but did earn a sixth place finish in the Section Thursday afternoon in Adrian.
Nick Hastreiter put out a valiant effort but fell just shy of earning a spot at State with a 13th place finish (18:18).
Ryan Phillips capped off a nice first season on varsity with a 36th place finish (18:53), Brian Riley (19:02) was 39th in his final race as a Cardinal, Dillon Thooft (19:29) 44th, Nick Anderson was 49th, Dane Olsen 76th and Brett Olsen 101st.
Jackson Co. Central earned the Section 3A team title by edging Adrian (49-62).
Redwood Valley finished with 178 team points.
