Lucille Shaw (Lou), 90, of Wirt, Minn. passed away on October 20, 2009 at the Bigfork Valley Nursing Home. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.


 

 


Lucille Shaw (Lou), 90, of Wirt, Minn. passed away on October 20, 2009 at the Bigfork Valley Nursing Home. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lous was born in Austin. She graduated from Austin High School and went on to work at Northwest Airlines in St. Paul. Lou married Howard Shaw on June 11, 1949 in Austin, where they lived for nine years. They moved to Morton and resided there for 21 years where they raised their family. Lou was a homemaker and also supported her husband in his plumbing business. They semi-retired to Wirt in 1979 and built their country home in the woods. They also lived in Tinidad, West Indies for one year during 1982-83 at which time Howard did contract plumbing for a Minnesota based company.

Lou will be remembered for her delicious cooking and baking, love of reading, playing board games and cards, her love of nature and feeding the birds, and her interest and knowledge of sports. She especially loved all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Riverside Chapel, Bigfork at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements were with Carroll Funeral Home of Deer River.

She is survived  and will be greatly missed by her husband, Howard; by daughters, Stephanie (Steve) Zimmer of Grand Rapids, and Jane (Tim) Lexen of Cumberland, Wis.; her sons, Bill (Ann) of Maple Grove, and Jim (Nancy)?Shaw of Grand Rapids; and also by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Norma Kuhn, her brother Arlan Kuhn, her sister Caroline Westphal, and two great-grandsons Jack Zimmer and baby Danielson.
