A 22-year-old Fort Leonard Wood resident was arrested early Friday morning after he was caught stealing from the used grease storage at Half Sauced BBQ in Osage Beach, according to police.

According to the police department, the owner of the restaurant, Randy Heimgartner, was working late when he noticed a white 2002 Chevy truck with a black tank parked next to the grease receptacle.

Heimgartner watched as two people -- 22-year-old Larry Key and his 33-year-old female companion from Niangua -- siphon grease from the restaurant's storage into the tank on the truck.

Not recognizing the truck as belonging to the company hired by the restaurant, Heimgartner called law enforcement authorities.

The release states that Heimgartner saw the truck pull into the Kays Restaurant parking lot.

The release does not state what Key was charged with.

Much of this grease is recycled for biodiesel, according to information released by the Osage Beach Department of Public Safety. Over the last several years, law enforcement agencies have received an increase in thefts from grease storage areas at restaurants.
